Continue a 50-year legacy of learning in the Bay Area

For almost half a century, Lehrhaus was a cornerstone of Bay Area culture. When it closed in 2021, our community refused to let it go. We created New Lehrhaus to honor that past and build a new future for Jewish learning.
Inspired by Franz Rosenzweig's revolutionary "Free Jewish Lehrhaus" in 1920s Frankfurt, we believe in learning that breaks down barriers—between denominations, between the academy and the community, between ancient wisdom and contemporary life.
A Cultural Center Open to All
We know that all curious learners can be fascinated by centuries of philosophical debate, moved by the poetry of the Psalms, or intrigued by stories that have shaped world literature. New Lehrhaus welcomes:
-
Literature lovers engaging with timeless texts and poetry.
-
History buffs uncovering the events that shaped our world.
-
Language learners studying ancient and modern tongues.
-
Deep thinkers wrestling with life's eternal questions.
-
Cultural explorers discovering global traditions.
-
The endlessly curious who find joy in the journey of learning.

Why Your Support Matters
