Deborah Kaufman and Alan Snitow create films, videos, and educational media on social issues from race relations to globalization. Their newest film, Town Destroyer (Mill Valy Film Festival premiere 10/8/22), explores “Cancel Culture” as manifested in the controversy around a Depression-era mural in a San Francisco school, depicting George Washington as a slaveowner, military leader, land speculator, President, and a man Native leaders called “Town Destroyer” after he ordered their villages destroyed during the Revolutionary War. Their earlier work includes Black and Jews, Company Town, Between Two Worlds – The American Jewish Culture Wars, Thirst: Fighting the Corporate Theft of Our Water, and Secrets of Silicon Valley.
