Jeremy Popkin, William T. Bryan Chair professor of history emeritus at the University of Kentucky, first became fascinated with the French Revolution as a graduate student at Berkeley in the 1970s. His numerous publications on the subject include A New World Begins: The History of the French Revolution, Revolutionary News: The Press in France, 1789-1799, A Short History of the French Revolution, and The Right-Wing Press in France, 1792-1800 (with hand-drawn maps by Rachel Biale).
