An immersive exploration of the tunes, words, and significance of Kabbalat Shabbat (Welcoming the Sabbath on Friday Evening). Each week will focus on a different aspect of Kabbalat Shabbat, beginning with a short teaching led by esteemed guest scholars, preceded by dinner and schmoozing and followed by a singing circle led by Urban Adamah's Ritual Director, Elaina Marshalek.

This program is in person at Urban Adamah, but you may register below for the following teachings on Zoom:

Prof. Robert Alter will illuminate the poetic beauty and meaning of the Psalms, offering insights into their historical context and literary elegance.

Wednesday, March 27 @ 7pm on Zoom (Psalms teaching only)

Prof. Daniel Matt will lead us in exploring the mystical dimensions of Kabbalat Shabbat, through the teachings of the Zohar

Wednesday, April 3 @ 7pm on Zoom (Zohar teaching only)
