Ken Blady: Yiddish 2 – Lernen Yiddish (Virtual on Zoom)

This is a course for those who are serious about lernen Yidish and have mastered some of the more elementary words and phrases. For those who want to converse with bube in zayde (grandma and grandpa) and other Yiddish-speaking mishpukhe (family) and friends; and with ultra-Orthodox Jews in shteytlekh the world over. Emphasis is on conversation. There will be grammar and vocabulary exercises in class.
Material covered in each class will be transcribed and recorded, and available here for all the students weekly. Students will be highly encouraged to form khevrises (groups of study partners) outside the classroom. A variety of shprekhverter (expressions) and vitslekh (witticisms), many rated R, will also be provided.
