Aida Touma-Sliman is a Member of Knesset representing Hadash (the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality), first elected in 2015 and currently serving in the 25th Knesset. She was the first Arab woman to chair the Knesset Committee on the Status of Women and Gender Equality and previously chaired the Labor and Welfare Committee. Touma-Sliman has initiated and advanced numerous legislative efforts and is a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Israel. Before entering parliament, she served as editor-in-chief of Al-Ittihad and co-founded Women Against Violence, playing a key role in establishing shelters for Palestinian women in Israel. Her work focuses on social justice, women’s rights, minority rights, and democratic freedoms.
