Peter E. Gordon is the Amabel B. James Professor of History and Faculty Affiliate in Government, German, and Philosophy at Harvard University, where he has taught for over 25 years.  He is the author of many award-winning books in the history of European philosophy and social theory, and contributes frequently to publications such as The Nation and The New York Review of Books.
