Reuven Firestone
Reuven Firestone is the Regenstein Professor of Medieval Judaism and Islam at Hebrew Union College and an Affiliate Professor of Religion at USC. An ordained rabbi with a Ph.D. in Arabic and Islamic Studies from NYU, his research focuses on the historical and scriptural intersections of Judaism and Islam, as well as the phenomenology of holy war. He has authored nine books, including An Introduction to Islam for Jews and Children of Abraham: An Introduction to Judaism for Muslims. His current book, Polemics and Prophethood: Pre-modern Jewish Writings on Muhammad and Islam, is expected to be released this year. He served as president of the International Qur’anic Studies Association and vice-president of the Association for Jewish Studies.
