Steven J. Zipperstein is the Daniel E. Koshland Professor in Jewish Culture and History at Stanford University. He is the author and editor of ten books, the most recent "Philip Roth: Stung by Life" published by Yale University Press in this fall. Zipperstein's previous book - "Pogrom: Kishinev and the Tilt of History" (2018) has been translated into Hebrew, French and Romanian and is the inspiration for several plays as well as the novel "The Adventure of the Peculiar Protocols" by Nicholas Meyer. He has taught at universities in Israel, France, Russia and Poland and at Oxford for six years. Zipperstein has published widely in New York Times, The Atlantic, Ha-Aretz, Jewish Review of Books, and elsewhere and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
