Tony Michels is the George L. Mosse Professor of American Jewish History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research and teaching focus on American Jewish history, Yiddish culture, Russian Jewish history, socialism, working-class history, and nationalism. He is the author of A Fire in Their Hearts: Yiddish Socialists in New York, winner of the Salo Baron Prize for Best First Book in Jewish Studies, and Jewish Radicals: A Documentary History. He is also co-editor of Radical Jewish Politics: A Global Perspective.
