Sukkot Film Screening: The Route of the Citron by Izza Genini (In Person Only)
- Pacific Time
In partnership with Urban Adamah
Join us for a screening of The Route of the Citron (Etrog) by award winning filmmaker Izza Genini.
In the hollow of the valley of the Moroccan Anti-Atlas mountains, the etrog is cultivated by the Berbers of Souss, according to the exacting specifications that make it suitable for ritual celebration and blessings for the Sukkot festival, the festival of booths.
The film The Route of Citron (Etrog) sets out in search of this sacred fruit, telling the story of how the etrog’s ancient essence and splendor has been maintained for centuries by Jewish scholars around the world and the farmers of the Doumder. Genini's film is a testament to the thousand year-old interweaving of Jewish and Muslim cultures in Morocco.
