This course, Treasures of the Pharaohs at the de Young: An Introduction to Ancient Egypt, is an Educational Program offered by New Lehrhaus. It is scheduled for two sessions, beginning October 15, 2026 and ending October 22, 2026, held on Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM Pacific Time.
The total registration fee is $36.00. The course is conducted Online and focuses on Ancient Egyptian history and the 30 Dynasties, daily life, religion, and culture in ancient Egypt, and the Lost City of Amenhotep III.
This two-part class provides a richly illustrated introduction to ancient Egyptian history, daily life, religious beliefs, and culture, with special attention to the objects and historical periods represented in the de Young Museum's Treasures of the Pharaohs exhibition. We'll trace an overview of ancient Egypt through its 30 dynasties, then explore aspects of Egyptian daily life, religious beliefs, and culture. We'll also take a closer look at the Lost City of Amenhotep III, a special feature of the exhibition. Whether or not you've seen the exhibition, you'll come away with a deeper understanding of ancient Egyptian civilization and richer context for the treasures on display.
